Hello. I’m Julia Gray.
I’m a researcher, writer, speaker and artist. I help facilitate conversations to build long-lasting relationships grounded in trust and kindness. I help organizations, communities and individuals connect to commitments and improve practices, as well as imagine, design and lead conversations to advance vision and change. I have a career-long commitment to equity, diversity and belonging.
With over 20 years of experience under my belt, my award-winning research, writing and arts projects have reached a wide range of industry and academic audiences. I have also taught at the University of Toronto, Sheridan College, York University and the University of Guelph. I hold a PhD from the University of Toronto.
Here are a few examples of projects I’ve been lucky enough to work on:
- Developed opportunities for a wide range of dementia care partners and stakeholders to reduce dementia stigma, including changing practices and policy. Aspects of the project included developing a theatre production, a film, workshops, as well as publishing and presenting to engage different types of people.
- Explored community and audience needs alongside artistic vision for an arts company in the wake of COVID-19, to adapt the company structure and activities
- Conducted research and developed a publication about racism, access and belonging for Black students in physiotherapy training programs in Canada
- Conducted research and lead conversations about the value of the arts, recreation and cultural practices in hospital settings, including educational events, publications and presentations.
